Robotic Process Automation is a relatively new field, with use cases ranging from automating simple, repetitive back office tasks using software bots to more complex business processes involving AI/ML.

The market is unusual in that three players dominate, and none is a tech giant. These three – Blue Prism, UIPath and Automation Anywhere – are all specialised automation companies, but we expect to see market consolidation as simple bots become a commodity that all platform providers integrate into their offerings.

This report covers the following areas:

  • Interviews with IT leaders around how they are using RPA today.
  • The trends and challenges in RPA use, including rising use despite IT leader misgivings; the maturity of the AI space; and possibility for RPA to give way to Business Process Automation (BPA).
  • An analysis of the major vendors in the RPA space: Blue Prism, UIPath and Automation Anywhere, as well as vendors with a smaller presence in UK RPA, such as SAP, Kofax, Pegasystems, Automation Edge and more. The report covers their history, products and pricing, as well as – crucially – their differences.
